Games & Anime Character Design Book 2015 is a huge collection of character design work from the top anime and games released from 2012 to early 2015. It is a follow up to the Heroes & Heroines Character Design Book released in 2011.
The book serves not just as an excellent source of reference for character design work but also introduces the reader to a huge depository of anime titles worth checking out.
Each anime/game title covered has a short caption ( in both English and Japanese ) with a brief introduction to the story and character designer. ( below ) Characters from the anime Knights Of Sidonia, created by Japanese animation studio Polygon Pictures. I did a short stint at the studio back in 2008.
(above) Character designs by Kozaki Yusuke ( check out his excellent art book KYMG2 ) for the Short Peace game, a spin-off work from Otomo Katsuhiro’s anime of the same name.
(above) Characters from the Masaaki Yuasa directed anime PingPong, designed by Ito Nobutake. I really enjoyed the anime and the art book is excellent as well. (below) Illustrations by redjuice ( Guilty Crown ) for an upcoming anime titled Project Itoh.
A wealth of great character design reference material ( anime + games created between 2012 – early 2015 ) packed into a neat volume, reasonably priced. An easy recommendation.
