Just like my Tokyo summer trip of 2018 my first stop this year was to visit the giant Akira murals decorating the construction wall of the Parco shopping mall in Shibuya, Tokyo.
I made the visit with some haste because the murals will only be on display till the end of summer 2019, and the renovation works on Parco is due to be finished later in November. This is the 4th and final set of murals ( see the earlier set from 2018 ) and the year 2019 is the year where the story of Akira takes place.

2019 is also an exciting year for fans of Akira and Otomo-san’s works, with a new feature film and an Akira TV series in the works. As I mentioned earlier in my post, this is the final set of murals on display and will be taken down at the end of summer, so if you’re in Tokyo definitely head down for a look before it’s gone. This is the exact location.
