Angel’s Egg – Yoshitaka Amano / Mamoru Oshii Art Book Review

Angel’s Egg is a Japanese animated film released in 1985, a collaborative work between two creative giants in the anime/games industry – Mamoru Oshii ( Ghost In The Shell, Patlabor ) and Yoshitaka Amano ( Final Fantasy ).

This picture book is based on the character from the anime, and features illustrations by Yoshitaka Amano, and prose by Mamoru Oshii. The book has been out of print for a long time, and this is a new edition released in 2017 by Fukkan, who also bought us the storyboard books for Satoshi Kon’s animated films.

Running only 40 pages, this hard cover book is priced pretty high; but it’s a good opportunity for fans of Yoshitaka Amano and Angel’s Egg to acquire a book that has been out of print for more than a decade.
