Mitsuo Iso Animation Works Vol. 2 Art Book Review

After covering content from some of the director’s earlier works in the first book, Mitsuo Iso Animation Works Vol. 2 continue with some bigger and more influential anime like Evangelion, Blood The Last Vampire, RahXephon, Hirune Hime and more.

The book includes a good mixture of genga ( keyframe drawings ) as well as layouts from the above mentioned anime, and at 384 pages is quite a bit thicker than the first volume ( 248 pages ).

(above & below) I was previously unaware that Mitsuo Iso had also worked on Kon Satoshi’s first animated feature Perfect Blue, even though it was limited to just a couple of layouts.

A great follow up art book to Vol 1, with plenty of beautiful layouts and genga by the amazing Mitsuo Iso. I also recommend checking out the Groundwork Of Evangelion books, as well as the visual book for Denno Coil.
